Oceanside Beach

Our first full day in California was spent at the beach.  This is the only part of the trip that our kids knew about.  They have been begging to go to the beach for so long.  Aubrey was so excited to go.  She told all her class that she was going and had to bring back seashells for 11 people in her class.  Nobody else wanted one.  She was on a mission to get those shells.
Zac was making a trap to catch the sand fleas and was showing Eric them.
Aubrey collecting shells.  We were able to find two shells off a crab and some sand dollars.  She found a lot of black seashells. Grandpa walked up and down the beach with Aubrey looking for shells.

Lily loved being able to run in the sand.  Her favorite part was chasing the birds.  When she stood in the ocean she would fall back with the wave.
Aubrey and Jennifer loved the waves.

I finally thought Lily would be brave enough to let go of my hand.  The first wave that came in, she face planted it.

Zac setting more traps.

Dad and Diane enjoying the scenery.
Aubrey wanted to be buried in the sand.  Grandpa helped her out.
When it was time to clean up to head to the pier, Lily hopped on the blanket Devin was trying to fold.
There were pelicans everywhere.  I didn't want to get too close, I don't know how mean they are.

Eric thought it was hilarious that the pelican looked like it was sitting on his head.  Aubrey was really concerned when she saw the picture and really thought that the bird was on his head.
All of us at the end of the pier.
